— RagnBone Man — Skin (Lyrics)

When I heard that sound
When the walls came
Down I was thinking about you
About you

When my skin grows old
When my breaths runs cold
Ill be thinking about you
About you

Seconds from my heart
A bullet from the dark
Helpless I surrender
Shackled by your love

Holding me like this
Poison on your lips
Only when its over
The silence hits so hard

cause it was almost love
It was almost love
It was almost love
It was almost love

When I heard that sound
When the walls came down
I was thinking about you
About you

When my skin grows old
When my breaths runs cold
Ill be thinking about you
About you

When I run out of breath to breathe
Its your ghost I see
Ill be thinking about you
About you

It was almost love
It was almost
We bleed ourselves in vein
How tragic is this game
Turn around, Im holding on to someone
But the love is gone

Carrying the load
With wings that feel like stone
Knowing that we nearly fell so far
Now its hard to tell

Yeah we came so close
It was almost love
It was almost love
It was almost love

When I heard that sound
When the walls came down
I was thinking about you
About you

When my skin grows old
When my breaths runs cold
Ill be thinking about you
About you

When I run out of breathe to breathe
Its your ghost I see
Ill be thinking about you
About you

I reached out for your hand
When the walls were caving in
But I see you on the other side
We can try
All over again

When I heard that sound
When the walls came down
I was thinking about you
About you

When my skin grows old
When my breaths runs cold
Ill be thinking about you
About you

When I run out of breathe to breathe
Its your ghost I see
Ill be thinking about you
About you

Because it was almost love
It was almost love
It was almost love
It was almost love.

The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Musics Tiny Desk (home) concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. Its the same spirit — stripped-down sets, an intimate setting — just a different space.

Dec. 7, 2020 | Felix Contreras — The Austin-based rock band Black Pumas is having a good 2020. The group, led by singer Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada, was just nominated for three Grammys, including album of the year for Black Pumas (Deluxe Edition), and both record of the year and best American roots performance for the track «Colors.» The bands turn behind a tiny desk (and chair) shows why its debut album — now more than a year old — is receiving so much recognition right now.

Black Pumas gritty, retro-soul groove is on full display, while the intensity level builds gradually throughout this four-song set. Its clear why the bands live shows have won over fans. From the opening strains of «Red Rover,» Burton digs deep and by the time we get to the ballad «OCT 33,» hes burning with old-school soul heartbreak.

Quesadas guitar is the perfect call-and-response foil, while the entire band — complete with two powerful back-up singers — calls to mind soul classics, but with a groovy new sheen.

Ive seen some of Black Pumas shows in recent years and the band gets better every time out. The power of this Tiny Desk (home) concert shows that they always bring it, no matter the size of the audience.
